Only Restructuring Can Address Grievances of Niger Deltans_ Ijaw Youth Council

Image
No leader, however good he may be, can sufficiently address the grievances of the Niger Deltans except true structural reformation of the country," IYC stated. The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has faulted Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo's recent comments on restructuring, stating that no leader can “address the grievances of the Niger Deltans except true structural reformation of the country”. While addressing the Nigerian community in USA, Osinbajo had said Nigeria's problem is leadership, not restructuring. However, in a statement, the Ijaw Youth Council said it could not understand the vice-president’s position on restructuring, noting that “Nigeria’s teething problems are feathered by the internal colonialism of indigenous Nigerians by the major tribes as well as the economic strangulations of the components states”. Citing various peculiarities of the country that support the calls for restructuring, the council stated that Osinbajo should rather “...

Why Nigerians Hate Us (IGBO PEOPLE) _Chunua Achebe

Image
Foremost novelist Chinua Achebe claimed that Nigerians, especially of the Hausa/Fulani and the Yoruba stocks, do not like his Igbo ethnic group because of the southeast’s cultural advantage. He made this claim in his new book, There was a Country, which has generated controversy for his onslaught on the role of Obafemi Awolowo as the federal commissioner of finance during the Nigeria civil war. He accused Awolowo of genocide and imposition of food blockade on Biafra, a claim that has drawn rebuttals and contradictions of emotional intensity from some southwest leaders and commentators. “I have written in my small book entitled The Trouble with Nigeria that Nigerians will probably achieve consensus on no other matter than their common resentment of the Igbo,” he wrote under the heading, A History of Ethnic Tension and Resentment. He traced the origin of “the national resentment of the Igbo” to its culture that “gave the Igbo man an unquestioned advantage over...

It’s A Scam Promising Igbos Presidency, We Want Referendum – Amechi

Image
Respected elder statesman and Nigeria’s First Republic Aviation Minister, Chief Mbazulike Amechi, has told the Nigerian government to include Referendum to the constitution and let it be conducted to determine Igbos’ fate in Nigeria. Amechi was reacting following the alleged plot for former Lagos State governor, Bola Tinubu to succeed President Buhari, while the party has been promised to shift power to South-East (Igbo land). He also noted that the moves to scheme out the Igbo in the 2023 electoral calculations were reminiscent of Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s collaboration with the northern military regime in the aftermath of the aborted implementation of the Aburi Accord between General Yakubu Gowon and the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu. “What Saraki said is obvious because those who follow the politics of Nigeria know that it is the game that is going on now. We are not surprised. The Igbo have been neglected and not seen as part of the fede...

OPEN LETTER TO OHANEZE PRESIDENT CHIEF NNIA NWODO

Image
Dear Chief Nwodo. I have just read the attached Press Release from your Office lamenting the renewed hostilities between Ohaneze Ndi Igbo and the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB. I have listened carefully to many of your speeches and I am impressed by your understanding of the issues. Inside me, I do not believe that you and many of the Igbo leaders in Ohaneze deliberately mean any harm to the Igbo people. I can confidently say that you have intended to play the role of a father trying to protect his children from harm. But you realise that you must be seen to be doing that and that intentions are not enough. But your greatest failing has been in communication. You have been called upon to lead Igbo people at one of the most critical periods in our history second only to the period of the Genocidal War against Biafra. It was not a civil war. There was nothing civil about that war. As you know too well, the Igbo people are facing a battle for our very surviva...
